Services

We offer three main services to our customers:

Tuition:

We offer one to one bookbinding tuition in-house by Holly Serjeant; courses run from two hours to several days, depending on demand.

Learn the basic principals of the craft by making a single or multi-section binding. Some students like to bring their own volumes for basic restoration techniques. Lessons can be adapted to suit individuals.

Courses:

Book a course in bookbinding! These are run by Holly Serjeant and Alastair, lasting a full day. Students are taught how to make a leather or cloth bound book, all materials and tools are supplied. Please ring or call in for details.

We tend to offer the day courses to NADFAS groups, U3A's etc, and they can take place in your regular meeting venues.

Lectures:

Lectures to groups, U3A's etc, by Alastair on the history and background of books and bookbinding, the importance of books in Medieval times and the development of printing, as well as material from the Victorian era of the Golden Age.

The lectures can be a straight power point session, or part practical demonstration. It is also a good opportunity for people to bring in their books for advice, etc.
